PRANA WEST



Prana West is a secondary campus for Peace Theological Seminary and College of Philosophy. It is located a few hundred yards west of the main headquarters at Peace Awareness Labyrinth & Gardens in Los Angeles, California. The impressive three story home was built in 1912 for Dr. and Mrs. Granville MacGowan. Its architecture incorporates several styles with Tudor Gothic, Swiss Chalet, and Craftsman elements. MSIA bought the property in 2002 and began a long process to rehabilitate the house and grounds so that it could be occupied in 2007.

We currently project that Prana West will be ready for occupancy in the October - November period of this year. In anticipation of its opening, PTS is accepting applications for residency. Here is some information and facts about the new property:

* With three floors and a basement it is almost 18,000 square feet. There are offices and living spaces on the third floor. The second floor has living spaces and a solarium meditation room. The first floor has classrooms, an office, sitting room, kitchen, public restrooms, and breakfast room. The basement has a sauna, workout area, and laundry room.

* There are nine living spaces -- seven bedrooms (with bathrooms) and two suites (two bedrooms each). The spaces vary in size and features. Some have walk-in closets and an outdoor terrace access They all have higher ceilings than your average house. All rooms are cable-ready with central heating and air conditioning.

* Prana West will be a multi-use facility like Prana. There will be classes held there, residential living, and offices for PTS. Prana will remain the headquarters of MSIA and the location for events such as Spa Days, as well as the place for guests to stay.

* The living arrangements at Prana West will be slightly different than Prana. Prana West residents will be on the same board system at Prana residents. Prepared weekday lunches and dinners will only be served at Prana. Our current plans are that Prana West residents can eat at Prana West or Prana. The kitchen at Prana West will be stocked with basic staples so residents there can prepare their own meals.

* Prana West has some nice amenities: There will be a fitness room and we also plan to have a dry sauna which will be available to residents of both Prana and Prana West. Prana West has a laundry room and a dumb waiter from the third floor to the basement.

Are you interested in living at Prana West? Residents of Prana West will be part of the existing Prana Seminary Program. All applications to live at Prana West will be considered on a case-by-case basis with final decisions being up to PTS and the Prana residents program. John-Roger indicated that academic influence will be highly considered for residency at Prana West.
