of Philosophy. Also called PTS, we provide spiritual education to students
in the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness (MSIA) and to the
general public in order to enhance your awareness of Spirit, regardless of race, creed,
color, gender, age, religion, nationality, or circumstance.
Founded in 1977 by John-Roger, PTS is a private,
non-denominational educational seminary that teaches practical spirituality in our changing world.
PTS maintains that our primary relationship is with our own Soul, and the business of
PTS is to provide educational opportunities that support students in becoming more
aware of the Divine in themselves.
Our headquarters and administrative offices are located in Los
Angeles, California, and PTS serves individuals and communities both locally and
globally. Classes, workshops, retreats, and correspondence courses are offered across
the United States, and on six continents: North America, South America,
Australia, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
In addition, PTS offers both a Master of Theology degree in
Practical Spirituality and a Doctor of Spiritual Science degree. As participants in these

Peace Theological Seminary and College of Philosophy (PTS) was founded in 1977 to provide spiritual education for those actively involved with The Church of the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness (MSIA). It presents the spiritual teachings of MSIA, primarily expounded in the MSIA Soul Awareness Discourses, in the form of classes, workshops, and retreats, and works closely with MSIA in developing its curriculum to reflect the current needs of students studying in MSIA, as well as providing introductory classes to the general public to enhance an awareness of Spirit. FOUNDATIONAL VALUES AND EDUCATIONAL GOALS The primary foundational values of the Seminary are: § Each person is individualized Spirit, a Soul, on a journey of discovery of his or her true nature, which is divine. § The spiritual consciousness referred to as the Mystical Traveler exists within each person and provides inner guidance and support for this journey. Through Seminary courses, the student can become more aware of the Traveler Consciousness within and its work, which includes releasing and dissolving whatever stands in the way of a person's conscious knowledge of his or her divinity. § Loving is the essence of Spirit and is the most important quality to develop and nourish in the human consciousness. § All knowledge exists within the human consciousness. Knowledge is awakened when information is presented as a living experience. § The process of spiritual growth and awareness involves continual practice.

INTRODUCTION | ||||||||
|
The Seminary's headquarters and administrative offices are located in Los Angeles. In order to assist students in gaining greater value from the spiritual teachings presented in the Soul Awareness Discourses, the seminary offers three main categories of courses: retreats, workshops, and classes. Retreats typically take place at facilities outside of cities and in a natural environment that is conducive to students doing intensive, inner spiritual work. The length of retreats ranges from four to seven days, with ample time for students to unwind from their daily concerns and to connect with Spirit. These events are usually done in groups ranging from 30 to 200 people. Whatever the size of the group or subject of the retreat, students often find themselves refreshed and more attuned to Spirit as a result of their participation. Workshops are generally conducted in city environments in large hotels or community centers, for the convenience of the local MSIA community. The duration of a workshop ranges from one to three days, usually over a weekend. Although workshops are not as "intensive" as retreats, students often find a similar result from their participationa deeper connection with Spirit and a renewed commitment to doing their spiritual practices. As with retreats, workshops are also done with groups of 30 to 200 people. PTS classes are the "daily bread" of an active student of the Seminary. They are generally held in the private homes of PTS facilitators throughout the world and at the Seminary headquarters in Los Angeles, and they are held primarily on a weekly basis over a five- to ten-week period. The classes tend to be groups of 5 to 20 people. This intimate environment provides an ideal setting for students to explore their spiritual dimensions freely, as students tend to create close bonds with one another, becoming like a spiritual family during the course of studying together.

MASTER OF SPIRITUAL SCIENCE
| ||||||||
|
The purpose of the PTS master's degree program is to provide the student with
an ongoing, intensive program to study, practice, and experience the teachings of
Soul Transcendence. The course work is designed to encourage students to apply the
teachings as a conscious daily commitment. As they observe their progress, they can gain
greater clarity of the presence of Spirit in their everyday lives. Their awareness of themselves
as a Soul is increased, thus allowing them to live the essence of practical spirituality,
which helps make the path of Soul Transcendence an active, alive, and joyful process. Year OneCREATING THROUGH GRACE In the higher realms, creation is still going on. In the lower levels, however,
creation is completeor, at least, is set in high degrees of possibility or probability.
Those who prophesy do so on what they foresee being highly
probable. But these things can be changed through what has traditionally been called the grace of God.
There is the possibility that you can, by learning how to enter into the consciousness
of grace, change those life patterns that have been established as probable for
you.
John-Roger During Year One, Creating Through Grace, students gain greater awareness of how they live their livesphysically, emotionally, and mentallyand of how they can bring these levels into greater alignment and cooperation with their spiritual intention. In doing this, students can increase their singleness of purpose so that, regardless of outer circumstances, they can experience God as their partner, and grace can be extended to them in greater ways.

The first year of course work includes the following six classes:
1. Spiritual Exercises Students do two hours of spiritual exercises on both mornings of the weekend class. Spiritual exercises are the primary spiritual practice recommended for those studying in MSIA, and they are vital to students who seek to expand their awareness of who they are as spiritual beings.
2. Clearing the Body Students use techniques such as breathing, chanting the HU tone, and forgiving judgments to release imbalances that have been stored in the physical body. This creates a more receptive and relaxed environment for experiencing more of the blessings of Spirit.
3. Clearing the Consciousness Students apply basic spiritual keys such as acceptance, loving, and forgiveness to clear blocks in the consciousness that prevent them from fully realizing the presence of Spirit in their lives. Muscle-testing techniques are used to assist in clearing limiting beliefs and attitudes so that students can have more freedom to live in alignment with their divine essence.
4. Creating Through Grace This class provides a nurturing and safe environment in which students explore deeply how they perceive themselves and how to expand their compassion and loving to embrace all aspects of themselves. Through aligning their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual intentions, students learn to make this inner alignment the source of their creativity and manifestation in the world.
5. Spiritual Warrior Those who are on the spiritual path offered by MSIA are called to a high level of spiritual responsibility. This course assists students in gaining greater spiritual strength as they learn to armor themselves with their intention toward God.
6. Living In Who You Are This course is designed to assist students in expanding their awareness of who they are as a divine being and, through that, to attune more to their true essence.

Year TwoFULFILLING THE SPIRITUAL PROMISE "The very life of that one called the Prince of Peace, called the Belovedthat very one's life is an example of what we must do to fulfill the spiritual promise to ourselves. We have to come awake that we were born the Lord." John-Roger
Themes of the three quarters: G Erasing Personal HistoryResolving past subconscious/unconscious issues G Rediscovering Your Innocence G Authentic Empowerment
1. Spiritual Exercises Spiritual exercises, the primary practice for students of MSIA, are done on both mornings of the weekend class to support students in continuing to awaken to the greater reality that they are divine.
2. Body Regeneration Students learn techniques (including the use of muscle-testing) to release imbalances from the various physiological systems of the body and the psychic fields around the body. Accessing spiritual assistance is a key part of clearing disturbances and restoring balance, and students can apply the techniques and tools they learn in this class in their daily lives.
3. Living the Spiritual Protection This class takes the first-year Clearing the Consciousness class to a much deeper level. Students learn to become more aware of the openings by which negativity is let into the body or consciousness, and with that awareness, they learn to clear and then close these openings.

4. Spiritual Warrior Three areas that powerfully impact the human consciousness are money, sex, and relationships. In this class, students do a process that assists them in healing these past hurts and bringing greater maturity to these aspects of themselves. This class also incorporates information and processes regarding S.E.'s, listening and praying unceasingly.
5. Fulfilling the Spiritual Promise This class is the central theme of the second year and involves in-depth work whereby students can have more conscious experiences that they were "born the Lord." Much of this class assists students in locating the origins in their consciousness of patterns that have pulled them away from their divine nature. By using forgiveness and spiritual assistance, students learn keys to return to the spiritual heart.
6. The Presence of Intention This class builds on the work that was done in the first year on intention. Students work with their basic, conscious, and high selves in creating a "spiritual marriage," which provides a solid foundation for bringing all aspects of their consciousness into alignment with their intentions.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS 1. Students seeking admission as a master's degree candidate must hold a bachelor's degree or an advanced degree from an institution of acceptable standing, and they must furnish PTS with a copy of the degree. (The Master of Theology in Practical Spirituality degree is granted in California, Colorado and New Mexico only, to those students who successfully complete the course work in the California, Colorado and New Mexico programs.) 2. Students may also enroll in the program as a "workshop student" for personal development only and not for credit. They must be 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or its equivalent. 3. All students must have completed the first year of the MSIA Soul Awareness Discourses by the time they begin the program. They must also maintain an active subscription to Discourses as well as the Soul Awareness Tape (SAT) series during the course of the program.

DOCTOR OF SPIRITUAL SCIENCE
|
It is the intention of PTS, through this Doctor of Spiritual Science (DSS) program, to assist students in moving to new levels of expansiveness and awareness. Students have already experienced the positive results that were obtained through the Master's Program, and now they can continue achieving even greater rewards throughout this new program. The DSS takes a daily conscious, continual focus. It is about living and breathing the teachings as much as possible. "There are two key ways to know if you're really following in God
consciousness or not:
How you're not following is shown by the limitations and restrictions
and constrictions that you put out. You often can feel them in your body. And
they usually lead to physical illness, emotional sickness and mental disturbance.
The way that you know you are in God's work is by how much you are
expanding and by how much more you are effectively `doing it.'
You see, God created us and He didn't use any junk to do it. Sometimes you
want to take who you are as a creative being and make junk, thinking that's going
to be acceptable. At the level we are working in this PTS doctoral program, I
want to be clear with you that it's not.
The thing we're on the planet to learn is discipline towards God's direction.
That discipline is not a punishment. It's joy. And it's a real thankful thing to have."
Like the Master's program, the DSS program is held one weekend a month for nine months (usually October through June) each year. The first two years are devoted to intensive course work. The third year, a practicum year, is an opportunity for students to devote time to refining, demonstrating, and completing their Practical Treatisesthe final paper required for graduation. In the third year, students still attend monthly classes. The DSS provides a supportive format for expanding spiritual awareness and for the consistent and disciplined practice of the Traveler's teachings.

Year OneThe Multidimensional Human Themes of the three quarters: G Coming to Terms with Reality G Becoming God's Partner
The first two years of course work includes the following six classes: Spiritual exercises are the primary spiritual practice recommended for those studying in MSIA, and they are vital to students who seek to expand their awareness of who they are as spiritual beings.
2. Building the Bridge of Awareness Light Body is a series of movements designed to encourage students to blend the Light and spiritual energies with the physical energies of the body for balance, upliftment, and vitality. Stretching, flexibility, strength, and awareness (both physical and spiritual) are all a part of Light Body. Soul Journey explores qualities of the Soul and how we use these qualities (or do not) in our lives; the Soul Journey exercises encourage students to open more fully to Soul awareness and to access that level more completely. Listening explores what we listen to inwardly and outwardly, and how we can listen more to Spirit and God. Seeing explores the ways in which we see ourselves and how we can change that to more positive images that lift our consciousness.
3. Navigating the Game of Life Students create a matrix of their intentions, goals and purposes as well as what is restricting and limiting them. Extensive tracking is done that, in the course of the program, produces tremendous insight, revelation, and positive change.
4. Clearing the Issues Throughout the course it is emphasized that the students are the Spiritual Scientists and their laboratory is their own selves. Therefore, self-observation is a core part of the program. Clearing the Issues is the class in which they work with the list of current issues and negative patterns they have observed in themselves. The students apply Controlled Kinesiology muscle testing to clear the issue, with the over-all intention of expanding past their limitations, restrictions and constrictions.

5. Spiritualizing the Consciousness In this class the DSS student is given the opportunity to become more available to the Holy Spirit by identifying, clearing, finding the causes and closing those areas in their consciousness in which there is an obstruction, or limitation to the flow of the Holy Spirit. The form of muscle testing used in the PTS Doctorate in Spiritual Science has been named Controlled Kinesiology Testing (CKT). The word controlled is descriptive of the fact that the person whose arm is being "tested" is the one in control, directing the investigation and indicating when their arm should be tested. The entire procedure and process are under the jurisdiction of the person being tested. Various techniques are introduced throughout both years of the course providing the DSS student with a wide range of techniques and tools that they are encouraged to learn to use skillfully.
6. Aligning the Selves This course is designed to assist students in integrating the basic self, the conscious self, and the High self. Year TwoThe Multidimensional Human - Part II "What's the main reason for the DSS class? It could be answered two ways: the negative way is, what stops you from seeing God? The other way is, what helps you get to God? If you find out what's stopping you, that doesn't mean you cracked it, but you are getting to God, that means you're already on course-correction, and you are just on a timeline of fulfillment. And each person may have a slightly different variation." ~ J-R
Themes of the three quarters: G The Quality of Attention G Multidimensional Awareness II
"What it comes down to, always and forever, is the commitment to yourself. And that starts when, ten billion times a day, ten billion percent, you commit to the upliftment and the unfoldment that is your spiritual nature." ~ J-R

Year Three The Practicum Students complete a Practical Treatise (a unique and original study documenting the student's research, discoveries and conclusions) on a topic of their choice. The Practical Treatise could be regarded as a "hot to" manual that other people can read and practice in order to achieve predictable, measurable, repeatable results. Each student will choose his or her topic during the first year of the program, and continue to define and focus that topic in the second year. The third year is devoted to practicum work on the tretise, with the intent of completing, submitting, and gaining approval of the Pratical Tratise by the end of the third year.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS1. Students seeking admission to the DSS program as a doctoral degree candidate must have successfully completed the PTS Master of Theology in Practical Spirituality program. (The Doctor of Spiritual Science degree is granted in California only, to those students who successfully complete the course work in the California program.) 2. Students may also enroll in the DSS program as a "workshop student" for personal development only and not for credit. 3. All potential students must complete and submit the PTS DSS enrollment form and Letter of Intent. 4. All students must maintain an active subscription to Discourses as well as the Soul Awareness Tape (SAT) series during the course of the program. Students who have completed all 12 years of the Discourses only need to have an active subscription to Soul Awareness Tapes. 5. All students must tithe to MSIA throughout the three-year program. 6. All students must be approved for acceptance into the DSS program by a PTS admissions panel. 7. All students must complete a Practical Treatise on a topic of their choice that will be between 50 and 100 pages long. The Practical Treatise is a unique and original study, documenting the student's research, discoveries and conclusions. The Practical Treatise can be regarded as a "how to" manual that other people can read and practice in order to achieve predictable, measurable, repeatable results. Each student will choose his or her topic during the first year of the program, and continue to define and focus that topic in the second year. The third year is devoted to practicum work on the treatise, with the intent of completing, submitting, and gaining approval of the Practical Treatise by the end of the third year.

PUBLIC PROGRAM | ||||||||
|
Peace Theological Seminary provides spiritual education classes to the general public to enhance an awareness of Spirit. In these classes, students have the opportunity to gain a greater understanding, acceptance, and loving of themselves and others. We invite you to join with us in expanding your consciousness, embracing your joy, and allowing grace to lead the way in your life. These courses are offered in classroom and chatroom/electronic mail formats.
AWAKENING TO SPIRIT One-Day and Five-Week Class This course focuses on fundamental techniques and keys students can use to awaken to Spirit in a greater way. In the five-week version, students are also given opportunities to experience active meditation and spiritual exercises as taught in MSIA.
DETACHMENT/FREEDOM One-Day Workshop Students explore how attachment to a point of view, old habit, or behavior can lock them into something that is no longer serving their highest good. They then learn to detach from those things that have been limiting them and to open themselves to experience the true freedom upon which Spirit rides.
EXPLORING SPIRIT IN EVERYDAY LIFE One-Evening Workshop This workshop presents seven tools for spiritual living that are directly applicable to our everyday lives. Students learn more about letting go and letting God direct their lives for our highest good and chanting the names of God to attune themselves to the Spirit within and raise their consciousnesses on a daily basis. Prayer becomes a dynamic and participatory activity. Listening to the Spirit within, forgiving ourselves and others, and unconditional loving can lift us and head us in God's direction.

FORGIVENESS One-Evening Workshop, Five-Week Class, Chatroom Class and E-mail Class In this class, students experience the value of forgiveness as a daily exercise in creating more loving in their lives. Forgiveness gives the opportunity to participate in life as a statement of caring, sharing and nurturing. By practicing forgiveness, students take authority over themselves and realize that there is never a good reason to withdraw loving.
GRATITUDE One-Evening Workshop and One-Day Workshop In this class, students find something to be grateful for, explore how gratitude moves energy, and how negativity dissolves in the presence of gratitude. Students have the opportunity to experience how gratitude opens the heart and reveals loving.
INTRODUCTION TO THE CHRIST WITHIN One-Evening Workshop This workshop is designed to offer an experience of the student's own divine nature and of his oneness with God. It does not matter what religious background he might be. It does not even matter if he really believes in God or not, because this workshop does not deal with beliefs. It deals with a reality that students can experience directly with the willingness to be open to that experience.
INTRODUCTION TO THE MASTER OF THEOLOGY PROGRAM One-Evening Introduction to the Masters Program See page 6 for a description of the PTS Masters Program.
INTRODUCTION TO THE THREE SELVES One-Evening Workshop The three selves work together through channels of communication to help us awaken to our Soul: The High Self, the keeper of the life plan, will send information about the life blueprint down to the Basic Self, and the Basic Self will filter it up to the Conscious Self through the unconscious and subconscious. Students learn an introduction to the benefits of keeping these channels of communication open between the three selves.

LIVING IN LIGHT One-Evening Workshop This workshop is for students who want to learn how to work with the Light to deepen their experience of Spirit.
LIVING WITH SPIRIT (One-Day Workshop) (or LIVING WITH SPIRIT PLUS, a One and a Half-Day Workshop) What is Spirit? Students explore the expressions that contribute to a greater experience of Spirit and the many ways that Spirit manifests in their daily lives. In this process of discovery, they can find keys to working with Spirit to create more peace and joy.
LOVING RELATIONSHIPS One-Evening Workshop In this introductory workshop, we look at our relationship with ourselves as a way to start enhancing our relationships with others and indeed with God. Students learn more about themselves as a loving partner to their own consciousness, to significant others in their lives, and to God.
MEDITATIONS FOR INNER AWARENESS One Evening Workshop and 5-Week Class Often looked upon as a passive and sometimes boring pursuit, meditation is presented in this introductory workshop as the vital, active, and exciting process it can be. The material in this workshop and class transforms the ancient practices of meditation into valuable and practical resources for coping with modern life and is a vehicle for gaining personal experience in traveling the inner worlds of consciousness.

and in the people whom they admire, they attune to the strength that is already inside of them to stand up as spiritual beings. Through a profound process, students forge the armor of the spiritual warriorhealth, wealth, happiness, prosperity, abundance, riches, loving, caring, sharing, and touching. When the class is completed, students have a much deeper sense of their personal spiritual strength and responsibility.
WHAT IS GRACE? One-Evening Workshop What is Grace? When we make space in our consciousness to recognize the blessings of Spirit, Spirit moves us above the cares and woes of the lower worlds into the levels of consciousness where we transcend our karmawhere we can recognize that we are one with God.
|
WHAT IS LOVING? One-Evening Workshop and Chatroom Class MSIA teaches that people are capable of loving all thingsthat is called unconditional love, living love, or acceptance of what is. Love can be looked at as the essence that brings or holds things together like the cells of a body are held together. Cells are "in love" with each other. In this introductory workshop, students will have the opportunity to explore and experience living love.
WHAT IS MSIA? Four-Week Class This class explores the basic spiritual teachings of MSIA in four informative and experiential sessions. Students learn about Soul Transcendence as explained by John-Roger in MSIA Soul Awareness Discourses, doing spiritual exercises, awakening to the Mystical Traveler Consciousness, experiencing inner levels of consciousness, and much more.

Spiritual Principles
of Abundance & Prosperity Series (Open to the public)
SPIRITUAL PRINCIPLES OF ABUNDANCE AND PROSPERITY (Five-Week Class or Three-Week E-Mail Class) Drawing upon Bible passages and the many seminars that John-Roger has done over the years, students learn the deeper spiritual meaning of wealth, abundance, prosperity, and riches. As they explore their own concepts about abundance and the results they have produced, students are given the opportunity to bring more Spirit into that aspect of their lives. The spiritual principles of seeding and tithing are presented as ways to bring a greater awareness of how God can be their "partner" in life. Students often experience a greater level of abundance and prosperity as they test the principles of seeding and tithing and focus on gratitude for the many ways that they are blessed.
MONEYTHE GREAT MIRROR OF CONSCIOUSNESS (Five-Week Class) This course focuses on money as a tool of awareness. By becoming aware of how money affects us on many different levels, and how belief systems, such as parental and religious influences, have layered themselves into our consciousness, we can become more aware of ourselves and what runs us. Our willingness to look coupled with the practical steps offered in the course gives us the opportunity to step into greater freedom. Our relationship with money impacts our lives whether we like it or not, thus it becomes a "Great Mirror of Consciousness." This course is about using that mirror to lift us higher. What is Grace?

SEMINARY PROGRAM
| |||||||
|
The Seminary building, referred to as Prana, represents to the MSIA community the physical center for all those studying the spiritual teachings of the Mystical Traveler. It is a physical-level anchoring point for the Light and love of the Traveler and is the place where the MSIA and PTS staff and the Prana residents work to provide a variety of services to the MSIA community. As such, this makes an ideal setting for students of the Traveler to learn to serve and to live the teachings.
There will be a brand-new type of spiritual person coming into Prana who is going to have, in their own right, a clearer focus and a vision of where we're going, because we're raising the vibration of the seminary. John-Roger The purpose of living at Prana is going home with the Traveler; studying the teachings and, even more important, living the teachings; and to serve, more than at other places. John-Roger
GOING HOME WITH THE TRAVELER A few years ago on a PAT IV journey, some of the participants were inside a beautiful temple in Egypt. The energy was very refined and pure. Someone asked J-R about the place, and he said that, in its time, it had been a focal point for pure energy to come into the planet. Someone else asked if there was anywhere like that now. His answer was, "YesPrana." J-R recently reaffirmed this and added that "the amount of spiritual Light at Prana is found in the intentions of the people living there." This indicates some of the blessings that can come with living at Prana and gives an idea of how each individual can make a significant contribution to the spiritual focus and energy there. Living at Prana provides students great support for focusing on Soul Transcendence, doing their spiritual exercises, and deepening their relationship with the Traveler and Spirit. Prana has often been called the "Home of the Traveler" because honoring that consciousness and finding it within oneself is so much a part of what goes on there.
STUDYING THE TEACHINGS The foundational studies for all students of MSIA consist of reading Soul Awareness Discourses and listening to Soul Awareness Tapes. In addition, residents of Prana complete the PTS Master of Theology in Practical Spirituality program, a two-year course that is described in detail on pages 6_9.

AND, EVEN MORE IMPORTANT, LIVING THE TEACHINGS Living at Prana provides students with the advantage of being part of a large support-group of people who are all learning and growing together, while holding a loving focus and an intention toward Soul Transcendence. Spiritual growth and upliftment are natural and inevitable consequences for those aligned in this way. At Prana, the spiritual energy is intensified, by design and intention, and students have often remarked on how quickly they are able to go through things there. The focus and commitment of the students living at Prana provide continual support and encouragement to live the teachings day to day, moment to moment.
AND TO SERVE, MORE THAN AT OTHER PLACES J-R has said that being of service is the highest form of consciousness on the planet, and loving service is the foundation for all that is done at Prana. With Prana being the headquarters of the Church of the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness and Peace Theological Seminary and College of Philosophy, there is ample opportunity for service, and volunteers are a cornerstone of the work of the Church. Students can use their present skills and learn new ones as they participate in service with the Church and Seminary.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY TO LIVE AT PRANA 1. Have a current subscription to MSIA Soul Awareness Discourses. 2. Be an initiate in MSIA or have written an initiation intent. 3. Be an ordained minister in MSIA or be studying toward ordination in MSIA. 4. Be financially stable in order to easily meet the Prana financial requirements. 5. Be free of any "recreational" non-prescription drug use. (This does not apply to drugs prescribed by a medical doctor for valid reasons of health.) The use of alcohol, cigarettes, and "recreational" drugs is not permitted on the Prana grounds.
LIVING AT PRANA Prana residents participate in several areas of service: Church service, working side-by-side with MSIA/PTS Staff; house service, maintaining the household and Prana grounds; and serving at special events. Residents are also required to participate in the Master of Theology Program and the Doctoral Program, and tuition is included in the monthly resident fees.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS | ||||||||
|
PEACE AWARENESS TRAININGS (PAT) This training isn't designed to help you get "enlightened." It won't help you get "illuminated." It is a process in awareness. If you thoroughly process yourself in awareness, you can then go into any situation and process anything that's given to you into a state of awareness. The Peace Awareness Training is truly a unique journey into yourself. Only you can make this journey. Remember, what you get out of it is what you are willing to put into it. We believe that by the end of the training, you will have gained not only greater insights into who you are inside but also valuable tools of awareness that you will be able to use in your everyday life. John-Roger
PAT I, II, III As John-Roger has said, "For all those seeking Spirit, all knowledge is accessible. In order to become available to the information awaiting you, you need to keep open the doors to your awareness. Peace Theological Seminary offers the keys." Awareness is key to one's spiritual unfoldment. For that reason, the PAT series is the foundational course work for anyone studying MSIA Soul Awareness Discourses, because the primary focus of the trainings is to expand the student's awareness. Held in retreat, these trainings provide a gentle, natural setting, without the physical distractions of a city, in which students can awaken levels of awareness that come from deep within their consciousness. As their awareness expands, students discover and more fully experience their true selves. Each training builds upon the last, and completion of all three trainings is strongly recommended to gain the most value. The effects of doing a PAT can last well beyond the duration of the training, as students often experience a powerful, sustaining change in their consciousness that shows up as greater inner peace, clarity, and connection with Spirit.

LIVING IN GRACE RETREAT
"What is the work that you're here to do? The most immediate thing in front of you. It's called two choiceseither live under the law of karma or live under God's grace of loving. And you can have your choice." John-Roger
This course grew out of an inspiration that choosing grace is a process that takes practicepracticing forgiving ourselves and others, and developing an attitude of gratitude. This can also be called "loving." The choice to love or not love is made in each moment. As students learn to choose more moments of loving in their lives, they can find themselves living more in God's grace and walking through life with the Lord. This course is a powerful step for the student in the eternal process of expanding inner peace.
PAT IV IN RETREAT: THE JOURNEY FOR INNER PEACE This course is based on "PAT IV: The Pilgrimage for Individual and World Peace," the seven trips to Egypt and Israel that the Seminary sponsored from 1984 to 1990. This course explores the qualities of the twelve disciples who worked closely with Jesus during his public ministry. Students focus on developing a fuller expression of the positive quality exemplified by each disciple and moving into the Christ within themselves, bringing forward greater forgiveness, loving, and peace for themselves and the world.

RETREATS & WORKSHOPS
"It's interesting to look at the word `retreat.' We're really talking about
`treat'giving yourself a treat, doing good to you. To re-treat is to re-do good to you.
You give yourself the chance to get away from all the bad that has built up around
you and treat yourself and then re-treat yourself to all the good that is within. You
get a chance to use the strength of the group as a loving support, to use the
spiritual energies present to crack open some of the crystallized patterns you have
built inside, and to have the energies of Spirit replace those negative
patterns." John-Roger
The following events are available in 3 or 4-day retreat or workshop formats unless noted otherwise.
INITIATES RETREAT TO THE KINGDOM OF GOD (For Initiates Only) Initiates in MSIA have a special relationship with the Mystical Traveler. In this course, students learn more about this relationship, including the Traveler's commitment to initiates and the initiate's responsibilities. Students also explore the many aspects of being an initiate and the qualities of various levels of initiation.
INNER WORLDS OF MEDITATION In this workshop, John-Roger, President of PTS, and John Morton, Spiritual Advisor of PTS, take students through many of the meditations that John-Roger has presented through the book, Inner Worlds of Meditation. These experiences could include the flame meditation, the water meditation, the Tho and the Ra, and many more meditations, and represent an extraordinary opportunity for healing, upliftment, and touching into the energies of the Soul.

THE LIVING MINISTRY (One Evening Workshop Only) The MSIA ministry is primarily spiritual, and the focus of the ministry is on service. This course provides the opportunity for students to explore the idea that when they keep their eyes on the Lord, the Lord's ministry is done through them.
MEETING THE CHALLENGES WITH SPIRIT (For Initiates or Ministers Only) When one has committed to living spiritually, challenges can come as part of one's growth. Using much information from early seminars John-Roger gave, this course assists students in identifying the challenges of living spiritually and in overcoming them through such powerful keys as calling upon the name of God and looking at everything through the eyes of the Master.
MINISTERS RETREAT TO THE INDWELLING CHRIST (For Ministers Only) This course is specially designed to assist MSIA ministers in deepening their attunement to their ordination "through the Order of the Melchizedek Priesthood, the Christ, the Mystical Traveler Consciousness, and into God." The first part of the course provides students the opportunity to explore what it means to be given the high spiritual energy of ordination and what physical forms the ministry can take as ministers "do God's work in this world." The focus then shifts to the part of the ordination that bestows a unique and special blessing on each individual minister. Through sharing in various exercises, the entire body of ministers present can receive of all the blessings. This is a beautiful step for ministers to take toward loving their ministry more and realizing the spiritual blessings.
RETREAT TO THE CHRIST WITHIN This course explores the lineage of MSIA through the teachings of John-Roger, the Bible, and the examples set by Jesus and his disciples. Students often find this course a profound way to discover and deepen their awareness of their divine heritage through the Christ Consciousness.
SANCTUARY WORKSHOP (Weekend Workshop only) Students create an inner sanctuary through the process of creative visualization to bring forward from Spirit that which can be made manifest in this world.

SOUL AWARENESS DISCOURSES WORKSHOP (Evening Workshop Only) The Soul Awareness Discourses are the foundation of the spiritual teachings offered in MSIA and, as such, are the "living bread" of all who are involved in MSIA. This workshop is useful for all students, as it focuses students' awareness on how the teachings in the discourses are working in their lives and how they can experience the teachings even more deeply.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISES Spiritual exercises, the primary form of spiritual practice recommended for those studying MSIA Soul Awareness Discourses, are vital to students seeking to expand their awareness of Spirit. In this course, students explore techniques for enhancing their spiritual exercises and practice doing them in a supportive group setting.
SPIRITUAL WARRIOR SERIES "When people ask me what a Spiritual Warrior looks like, I say, `Just like you.' It is what you are doing inside of you while you participate outside of youa totally simple way of living, an internal harmony and balance." From the book, Spiritual Warrior: The Art of Spiritual Living, by John-Roger
Those who are on the spiritual path offered by MSIA are being called to a higher level of spiritual responsibility. One way students can look at this is that they are being called to be "spiritual warriors." John-Roger has said that spiritual warriors use the sword of truth and that their weapon is awareness. In this series, students explore these and other ideas that support their standing in loving strength for Spirit.
Spiritual Warrior I: Forging the Armor (also offered to the public)
Spiritual Warrior
II: Converging the Spirit
Spiritual Warrior
III: The Anointed One
"When you have the mantle of the Spiritual Warrior in and around you, that's when you stand up inside as a great spiritual person, not as one who dominates, but one who selflessly serves with strength and purpose, as one who loves." THE TAO OF THE TRAVELERS Throughout time, the Travelers have come forward to show how humankind can positively change behavior by focusing on the eternally present Spirit that is within each person. This course is not about Chinese philosophy as a whole, nor is it about the times of Lao-Tsu. It is about the teachings of an ancient Traveler, Lao-Tsu, and a modern Traveler, John-Roger, and how these teachings can be used to create an uplifting, harmonious, Spirit-filled life.
WALKING IN THE LIGHT (Workshop Only) In this workshop, John-Roger and John Morton teach students techniques, exercises, and processes to keep prayer alive for ourselves and others, to help clear our consciousness and our bodies, and to precipitate from Spirit that which can be manifest in this world. Each exercise is a magnificent gift in itself, and together they help us develop a richer and more joyful relationship with God.

TRUE SELF, FALSE SELF (Available in Spanish only) This course explores the concepts of the true self, which is the divine essence within each person, and the false self, which is the ego and personality expressing from a lower state of consciousness. Students learn how to differentiate between the two selves and to express the true self more often.

Courses for Spiritual Practices
SPIRITUAL EXERCISES This is one of the most important courses of the Seminary. Spiritual exercises are a gift that enables one to connect with God. In this class, students work on creating the loving attitude and time to spend with Spirit each day. Through the consistency of the weekly meetings of the class, students have the opportunity to track their individual progress and to support one another as they grow in their devotional practices.
THE TRAVELER IN YOUR DREAMS (Five-Week Class & Ten-Week Class) The Mystical Traveler Consciousness works with students studying the MSIA Soul Awareness Discourses 24 hours a day, particularly during the nighttime while the body is quiet and the conscious mind is asleep. This course offers practical techniques for recalling dreams and working with the information that may be available from the dreams to enhance students' awareness of the guidance of the Mystical Traveler Consciousness in their lives.

GENERAL INFORMATION | ||||||||
|
Application Information
For the Master of Theology in Practical Spirituality and the Doctor of Spiritual Science programs, contact the Seminary for the appropriate application. The application will give further information on any additional paperwork and other requirements. (For the Master of Theology Program, a bachelor's degree is required for admission to the degree program. For the Doctor of Spiritual Science Program, applicants must have graduated from the PTS Master of Theology Program. For students who do not have a bachelor's degree, the same coursework is offered, and a certificate of completion is issued to those who have successfully completed the programs. For the other programs listed in this catalog, the minimal requirement is that the student be 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or its equivalent.) Once the application is completed and returned to the Seminary, the student can register to take courses offered through the program for which he or she is enrolled. The registration process is explained below. For most courses in the Continuing Education Program, there is a requirement of a current subscription to the MSIA Soul Awareness Discourses. Additional prerequisites are noted where applicable. When students register to take their first discourse subscriber class, there is an application form they must complete, in addition to the usual registration form, which will be provided by the class facilitator. A one-time application fee of $20 is due at that time, in addition to the tuition for the particular class. Thereafter, students need to pay the tuition only for the particular class for which they are registering. Registration for classes is generally handled by the class facilitator. For classes conducted in the Los Angeles area, registrations are generally handled by the registrar. Registration for the Master of Theology Program, workshops, and retreats is usually handled by the registrar, and, whenever applicable, by the Seminary representative in the area where an event is being held. Fliers and announcements about the specific events give information on the registration procedures for each event. For the Seminary Program at Prana, please contact the Residents Program Administrator at the 3500 West Adams Boulevard address for an application. Information about the special procedures involved in applying for this program will be provided.
Schedule of Courses
Current schedules of courses offered by the Seminary are usually distributed to students all over the world by means of fliers or special mailings sent from the Seminary, MSIA newsletters distributed within local communities, and in The New Day Herald. These materials are generally sent to subscribers of MSIA Soul Awareness Discourses.

PRANATHE "GUASTI VILLA"
|
The gracious mansion that is now Prana was built between 1910 and 1913 for Secondo Guasti, who owned the world's largest winery at the time. He hired a local architectural firm and also brought in Italian artisans to fashion the beautiful Italian Renaissance interior. In 1937, Busby Berkeley, a Hollywood director and choreographer, bought the Guasti Villa and lived in it, adding an additional touch of glamor to the property's history. Then it changed hands several times until 1949, when the Los Angeles County Physicians Aid Association bought the villa and subsequently added two wings of rooms for retired physicians or their widows to live in. PTS bought the villa in 1974, and it became the headquarters for MSIA as well as home to many MSIA students over the years. The Guasti Villa is described in the West Adams Heritage Association tour guide: "The imposing, nearly symmetrical main house dominates the neighborhood. Its graceful facade and European elegance connote affluence, power, and the aspirations of those who have lived there. The breath-taking entry hall has an inlaid marble floor, oak paneling with pilasters and garlands, and a carved cornice. The ceiling features a large allegorical painting above a wood chandelier. The (former) dining room features dark paneling with seven-foot pilasters and inlaid hardwood floors. Appropriately, the cellar was originally well-stocked with Guasti wines but is now used for offices." The spacious rear gardens have four different levels and include a flower-rimmed courtyard with a fish pond, lawns (one of which can also serve as a volleyball court), a beautiful rose garden, and an orchard with bountiful fruit and avocado trees that provide organic produce for Prana residents.
